    1970 Alumacraft V16 Project

It's the gaps in the front between the floor and the front facing plywood. Epoxy is still fairly flexible when hardened and will work with the boat. I've built a couple of epoxy over wood boats in the past and repaired stuff on my fiberglass offshore boat with epoxy where the working of the...

    16ft Mirrocraft V-hull build!!**Finished!!!**

Looks great, I'm glad you got your motor problem worked out. I know I was VERY happy when mine finally popped up on plane. :)

    1970 Alumacraft V16 Project

Made some progress. It's about 90% of where I want it and honestly, the last 10% will come slowly as time permits. It's done enough I can use it again so that's what I'm going to do. Still waiting on my scuppers to show up so I can drain the deck out of the boat, right now I've got the deck...

The foam gets warm but it doesn't really get that hot. It didn't bother the tank at all.

    1970 Alumacraft V16 Project

Got a lot done today, although it doesn't look much different... Put in another 16 pounds of 2 part foam, for a total of 32 pounds. That gives me about 3600 pounds of flotation. I think if I were to do this again I would buy the 80 pound kit and foam the entire area under the deck instead of...

    1970 Alumacraft V16 Project

Made some progress. Decided I wanted more foam in the boat and it won't be here until Friday so I'm stalled waiting on that but I did get the rest of the floor framing in, the wood for the front deck cut and the back bench and anchor locker framed out. Also added a small electronics/control...

    1970 Alumacraft V16 Project

After having my plans completely changed Friday, I didn't get to do anything until this afternoon. Although it doesn't look like much, I made good progress in the 3 hours I spent working on it. Got the gouges and all the rivet holes welded up, welded the first part of the floor frame together...

    16ft Mirrocraft V-hull build!!**Finished!!!**

It should plane the way you have this right now (I could plane my V16 with the cav plate 2" too low and topped out around 22 knots), but you do need to raise it 2" for best performance. The motor height isn't your problem though, it's definitely a motor issue.

    16ft Mirrocraft V-hull build!!**Finished!!!**

This sounds exactly like what I was seeing with mine. I'd put it in the bucket and it ran fine, even put it in gear with the tires chocked and throttled it up, shooting water all over the place. As soon as I'd get the boat in the water, I'd have the same problems again. Mine only became...

    16ft Mirrocraft V-hull build!!**Finished!!!**

I had a similar problem with the old Johnson that came with my boat, it ended being a bad power pack and coils. If you've done the carb without improvement and you know the fuel is good, ignition system would be my next stop. The motor being too low shouldn't cause what you're seeing. Boat...

    1970 Alumacraft V16 Project

Thanks. I was really underwhelmed with the green LEDs. They were supposed to be 600 lumens but they're more like 200 per my meter. The area I fish in is pretty muddy water also so my light penetration is only about 4', at best. I think I'm going to break down and get a Honda EU200 and a...

    1970 Alumacraft V16 Project

Some days I wonder why I get out of bed... Day started off alright, got the 2nd coat of urethane on the plywood and got the Argon bottle filled for the welder with no problems but then I couldn't find my aluminum feed kit for the MIG welder so, foolishly, I tried feeding the aluminum wire with...

    1970 Alumacraft V16 Project

I bought this boat in June and it was pretty much just a hull, the previous owner had started to tear it down to redo it and lost interest. I spent a week putting in the bare necessities in a very temporary way so that I could use it and as often happens, I got it done "enough" to fish and...
