Since I figured a re-mod was inevitable, I decided to get started. I ground out that old diamond plate knee brace and removed the old wood. Not sure how old it was but it was in fairly good shape (considering). I mocked up a couple pieces of MDF to use as a template, got the wood cut, sandwiched the 2 pieces together with some glue & sealer, and let it set. Once it was set up enough to play with I fit it to the boat and drilled out the existing holes along with 8 new ones (4 each side). I upped the bolt size from 1/4 to 5/16, washers, and lock nuts. I fit everything together and will allow it all to set up in place over night. Tomorrow I will seal everything up, and mount it permanently. Still in the process of figuring out some new knee brace(s) and location(s) for them. Any suggestions there?
