Instead of replacing it I covered my whole boat above the waterline with Tuff coat as I was refurbishing it anyway. You can get it from BPS and Cabelas. It's pretty much like herculiner diy bedliner(could use that too). It is a polyurethane coating that has ground up car tires in it for traction. You could just mask off the area and put some on there. Or you might try a search for americans with disabilities tape. They make all kinds of traction tape for stairs and ect that meets the AWDA standards. Most of it is pretty tough stuff.
