I drilled a hole through the shaft and bent a wire through it because it would come apart every now and then. The only downside is that the rods are held in by a rubber strap that has holes in it that slip over the top of a nipple, and if there is enough weight they'll pop off. The rods won't completely fall out, they just sag a little. In the front the rod tips will tick on my sunglasses compartment so i put little foam caps on them to stop the irrirtating noise. My car sets up well to use the hangers for the system. I doubt highly that the suction cup holders that are designed to hold onto a window would work very well. I haven't found a suction cup yet that holds very long. Hope that helps.</p></blockquote><p></p>
