Thanks guys, the only thing astonishing is I finally got it done. It was a major PITA to get anything to work out like I wanted. There were several times I thought about just shooting it and putting ME out of my misery.

Depends on size of messed up holes, one way is to drill out the hole with larger bit and use a larger than normal rivet. I have always used the air hammer on head, but I also use a rivet set to match the button head.

Also check out the needle valve, the adjustment at the top of carb. If yours is like my 68 Fastwin that needle my be bad.
