Riv nuts and wood covering bench setas

Thanks for your ideas. RedBeard, the item description did not say the rivnuts were stainless, but I figured to put on some 5200 to cover the steel. Hopefully that will be enough coverage to keep steel from exposure to elements. Thanks again everyone who took the time to reply.

Riv nuts and wood covering bench setas

There have been a number of posts on both these topics over the past couple months. I want to use plywood to cover aft and middle bench seats. It seems to me that riv nuts would be a good way to afix the wood. I know lots of you wonder at putting wood on bench seats, and here is my reasoning...

    New guy here first post

I don't know anything about consoles, but I think the suicide knob on a stick sounds dangerous and illegal. Smaller diameter wheel sounds easier to accomplish, but problems may occur if you have large hands.

Simlar question came up awhile back. You might search forum for the horse stall mats to find the thread. Someone who posted was very happy with Bedrug.

    Outdoor Carpet Adhesive Wrong?

Don't use a spray on adhesive. It doesn't have enough strength to do the job. Use 150 grit sand paper to scuff up your spar varnished surfaces. Clean the dust off with vacuum and tack rag. Then apply a brush on or trowel on carpet glue. Let us know how it goes.

    Transom wood replacement for Grumman

I had to remove the rivets for the stern-facing end caps. I left the rivets on the port and starboard side end caps. Removed all the rivets and/or bolts and nuts from the transom lip and bent the lip out enough to tilt transom board and slide it out. Reinforced lip and transom cap with some...

    Sanding a aluminum 14' boat

It's hard to accept that aircraft stripper makes paint removal easier when the job requires such large amounts of stripper. I had lots of problems trying to keep the stripper on vertical or sloped surfaces long enough for it to work. The bottom of my boat had a different kind of paint than the...

10 foot aluminum jon boat leaky rivets

I had similar gobs of sealant on nuts and bolts on my boat. I was able to remove the stuff by using a utility knife to cut through so that I could pull up on an edge of it. Took some work for all six nuts. Cleaned it up with acetone. getting the holes patched with piece of sheet welded over the...

First boat, old 12' Sears flat bottom

Registration requirements vary by state. In NC I had a bill of sale and the registration numbers from the side of the boat. State could not say who had registered the boat in the past. Nor would that accept bill of sale. I had to ask PO to provide a notarized statement of lost title. Maybe the...
