I'm new to this group, howdy! I scored this 14' aluminum boat for free yesterday in Garrison Tx. Its pretty beat up, especially the transom, and aside from some dents and dings the hull is in pretty good shape.

I am looking for any words of wisdom from anyone willing to share experiences or advice. I can see its a Loan Star and the registration sticker says 78. Can anyone tell me what model it may be?

Thanks!

The lady I got it from told me it has been their farm boat for years. I have managed to straighten out most of the other dents and removed the old transom but that back corner is gonna be a tough one to fix.

I don't know if it will be so impossible. Take it slow. Heat helps w/the bending. Propane will take a while but MAP gas (like propane) would heat faster & hotter than propane. Just don't stay in one place too long, you wouldn't want to burn through it.
Hammer & dolly or a plastic sand filled hammer even. Little at a time.
Here's an advertisement someone shared a while back.
Hope this helps and take lots of photos.
Good luck.

Thank you, Ive seen these old ads and one thing that has me puzzled is all of the early 50's commanders have handle cutouts in the back corners, mine are solid which is why I asked the group.
