1993 15hp johnson

I have a 81 model 15hp Evinrude. I think they,re the same as a Johnson. I got a deal in mine at $275. It runs great, starts easily and is light and powerful. Only thing i would be really concerned with is saltwater usage. I,ve heard its very corrosive to aluminum. Brian.

I agree with 427 on the saltwater issue.I have a 1976 15hp & it runs like a champ.

Almost all the late model 9.9s and 15s from OMC were pretty much bullet proof when used with common sense and a little care. Sounds like a decent deal, have you been looking in Craigslist long enough to get a trend on the prices for that model?

I have a 1993 15hp Johnson ( untill yesterday thought it was a 91). It starts and runs great. Here in Wisconsin, $600 would be a steal! Anything 20hp and under doesn't stay on the market long.

1993? That's not old. For one of those, that is barely broken in. That model is getting near the end of the reliable, run forever motor era. Buy a 2010 motor, and when it is finally deemed dead, the 1980s model Johnson will still be running strong.
