Building a rod

Was hanging around the Jannsnetcraft.com website and I saw were you could make your own rods and with so many materials and stuff I don't know were to start and how to do it. If anyone knows step by step instructions that would help thanks

They are even going around now and having classes. I would love to take a class with an instructor.
