Yea you got right Idea..Loaded would be better.Cause they tend to Bounce and if you got a tire out of balance you will notice it empty..Might lower tire pressure some too with no load.. my 2c

That's a long way to pull empty. Can you take the tongue out and load it in the back of a pickup truck?
 
Maybe you could rig up a couple of sandbags to help with the bounce. Trailers are flimsy with no boat. The boat is part of the structure.
