Fish finder battery hook up

Would it be ok to hook my fish finder up to my motor battery? I would be using an inline fuse. Some say yes, others no. I don’t want to attach it to the trolling motor battery.
 
Yes. Most consumer finders have low amp draw, so no concerns. Most of mine are connected to the starter battery. One has a large screen and amp draw, so it has a dedicated battery.

Trolling motors can generate noise the finder may not be able to filter out, so that is why they don't recommend that.
 
I've done it too on various rigs. Just be aware big OBs with a ton of peak starting amps can put such a load starting that some FFs shut off when cranking ...

Or at least a low-voltage warning/beep.
