Just Bought a Evinrude 9.9 need advice on maintainence?

I just bought a Evinrude at a garage sale from my neighbor for $400.00. I took it out to test it and it runs great. I am new to outboards and was wondering if anybody could tell me the proper maintainence procedures I should be doing with it. I also would like to know the year and where to find it on the motor, my neighbor who sold ot to me said it was a 92', I just want to confirm. Thanks in advance

I'm trying to get an idea of fixing and maintaining outboards to. The year can be obtained from the serial and model. You should have a small metal plate bolted on to the shaft somewhere. Look up the number on the web.

The serial # will be on the transom clamp.

Great and dependable motors. (would definitely get service manual for your baby) It will help provide good running, long life, and help you do your own maintenance and definitely save you money!!

Use 50:1 gas/oil ratio (TCW-3 2cycle oil only) Mix oil and gas together because this is the motor only source of lubrication!!! Many of people who purchase an outboard do not realize this and burn a motor up!!

8oz oil with 3gallons of gas

16oz oil with 6gallons of gas
