Looking at buying a 15 hp Force. Opinions?

I've been looking for a motor for some time and I found someone that will sell me a 1990 force 15 hp. The guy said it needs the carb fixed and he was going to take it to a mechanic, get it fixed, and sell it for $500. But he said he'd sell it to me as is for $250. I was trying to find the price of a new carb for this and if I'm correct a new one isn't very pricey. So does this deal sound reasonable? Also, is this a motor worth buying? I've seen quite a few force motors but didn't know if they were reliable.

I don't think force motors have to big of a following but for the price what the heck give it a try.

Force's get a bad rap. They are simple and bulletproof, but not as well featured as OMC and Merc. Parts are still around.
