I bought this boat today it is a 1987 lowe river jon. The previous owner swore the boat never leaked once I got home a flipped the hull over I found three small pinholes in the very back. Im concerned that guythe foam in back has gotten wet and has now some severe corrosion I had hoped to put a 9.9 on back but now im kind of nervous to be pushing the boat hard.I took a auto punch and poked around the holes to see how soft they were they did make a indention but never went through.Does anyone have some suggestions

I think I'd run it to a welder for a repair estimate; that way you know exactly what you are dealing with. I had a welder repair some cracks on mine... it was cheap enough that I significantly added work to the list. I got everything I wanted for boat and trailer for under $300. Moved a seat, several holes, cut the trailer tongue, and he fabbed some bunk braces for me. Finding a welder who would deal with aluminum wasn't the easiest task but it worked out well for me in the end... project won't go far if she don't float.

I found a hole on my 84 lowe and went to O'Reillys and got JB weld for marine use mixed it up put it on and it is still there. I think a crack needs to be welded but for a hole 1" or less the JB weld worked for me.

thanks fellas i decided jb weld last night havent got any yet never knew they made a marine grade till now so tonight im gonna get someone to help out flip the boat over and fill her up. do you think the marine jb weld will be sufficent enough to hold up to a 9.9 hp motor or should i pull up those covers and the foam do a through inpsection before i go pushing it with a gas engine
