It's a 12 foot GenIII with a 9.9 Johnson 2stroke on it..I got some big plans for this little boat..and no wood will be used in the build..going all aluminum.

Cool tin! Can't wait too see it finished.

Sent from the dust in front of you!

Impreza's have a 2,000 lb towing rating - they handle tin boats just fine. I pulled my 12' sea nymph on a 4x8 yard trailer no problem for years with my WRX. I bet that boat & jon boat trailer together don't even weigh 600 lbs. Hard to say though - that boat is a beafy looking 12'er.

Pulls it like its not even there..and it's the wimpy 2.2 non turbo...I may need a clutch soon more due to me over reving it when pulling it out of the water some times..it's my first all wheel drive car so a slight learning curve..I didn't need to be rough on it to get it out..

Play with some cardboard last night to get my layout done..I split the middle bench and put a 22 inch walk way there. There will be a deck pedestal seat up on the casting deck. In front of that will be storage and a access panel to the battery..to the right and left off of the split bench will be storage doors. This all looked better last note before it got rained on..lol as I said before everything will be aluminum.

Did you build that aluminum lattice on the floor?

AWD is very unforgiving on clutches.

Nope bakery rack..all aluminum and 1in square tubing with what amounts to L braces under it..the void in the floor will be filled with blue foam sheets before the aluminum floors are installed.

That's f'ing awesome! I thought you'd gone and built that & I felt bad to point out that it was ridiculous overkill, but to just drop that in you're golden! Even better than using sections of busted old ladders.

Just be careful with those angle edges coming into contact with the hull - it doesn't take much vibration with a little bit of sandy grit getting in the middle before those could chew through the boatside. I was amazed this weekend when I pulled the throttle & shift cables off my outboard and found the plastic cup they seat in had vibrated and worn away the cast aluminum bracket it mounted in. We forget how easy it is to wear away aluminum if you're not careful.

No doubt..it will not contact the sides at all. Will have about 1/4 inch or better. But I agree aluminum is way soft.

Great project, but...uh...I just dropped my car keys through the lattice. Could you get them out for me?

Or, even worse, cell phone.

Hope the build goes smoothly for you.

=D>

Lol not quite the final floor will have blue foam board covering the lattice work then there will be a solid aluminum flooring mounted to the riveted in screw inserts so it can be removed..and on top of that will be a 1/4 inch rubberized flooring that will be angle cut to match the slopped walls of the boat side..when done a BB should not be able to fall below.and even if it did..simply tilt the boat bow up and everything will fall to the tail of the boat..all good thought of it already.

do you mean you are going to replace the transom with starboard? If so it might flex to much. Gonna be a great looking boat when you are done I like the layout you are planning

Lol no there was a smaller piece of wood on the outside..to make it thicker I assume..that will be starboard..the transoms is in good shape.
