Just sharin my project of spring 2011 Put a Deck on it I know its a 1232 but its for the fiance to tan on while I fish. Have a 11in post that came with the seats is this too high? Can I take the grinder to it and a heat gun and make it shorter if so? anyone done this? Doin electrical this weekend weather permitting. radio, bildge and fan maybe lights and cig lighters in the future. The Battery weighs like 100lb so im guessin it can handle a little bit.

I cut my seat posts down. the top nylon cap can just be punched out after you cut it then inserted back in the shortend post, no problem....

Welcome Donald. Nice looking boat, and looks like the mod is turning out well.

I cut mine twice started with 8" but was still a little to high. So i went 5" and I can sit flat footed in my Little boat.b7.jpg

thats what i need and want !!!!!! were did you get that seat post from? link ?

Very nice! Couple of questions...

Have you had it on the water yet? I have a 14/32 that I am wanting to start and I am wondering how stable yours is. Also, when measured from bottom of the boat to the top of the transom how tall is yours? Mine is a Lowe River J and is only 14" I don't want to put too much weight in it...

I got my pedestals and bases and a local Sporting good store the brand is Swivl-Eze. but I've found them on BPS and Cabelas sites for around $45 for the kit. you can also get everything seperate

I got my set off ebay also swivel ez for like $30. Mine has a 15" transom and luckily me and the fiance weigh about 270 combined so no too much weight issue. Also its just a tanning deck for her no one will be standing there. I got a bilge pump in her too in case we sit a tad low with the extras.

Great idea with cutting the seat posts. :p and with the seats being 5" up do you find the boat rocks quite easily? I know the higher you go it will rock more. Its hard to decide what hight i want to go with without buying a bunch.

Got the electrical done for now. Radio fan and bilge pump on switch panel. Cut the post down to 7" can always go shorter if I want.

Nice.

What brand radio did you go with? I'm considering it, but not sure how much power they draw.

sweet build =D> digging the fan !!! I have the same motor you have . how does yours run ? its a 72 Ted williams 7.5 horse right ?

Its a jvc I got off ebay for $20 w/ free shippin. The power should be 36 watts I believe cause it has a 4ohm resistor and 12v so power=iv. I might buy a splash guard for it off amazon. dunno if its a must though. Anyone have any suggestions on rod holders that mount in the rod locks? Yea you can get a 12v fan from walmart for like $10. My motor runs great have u had problems. If so anything to watch out for?

I am so stealing the fan idea if you don't mind. My wife will love it. just bid on one on ebay. had to go vintage. any trouble with it draining your battery??

I have a Topper 1232 and want to do the same thing with mine. I have a few questions.
Did you cut out the back and middle seats?
How did you brace the deck?
How does it ride with the outboard?

Thanks,
Ryan

The seats have cuts in them but very minor and all are supported. I wouldnt want to take em out on my boat cause they help hold the hull together. I used 3/4" plywood for the deck and no bracing the span is pretty small from the front seat to the middle. I can stand on it and it wont bow secured it to the metal with 1/4" toggles.
