If I remember correctly I think they were saying fiberglass resin, on its own, was not a good choice for lamenting plywood or other surfaces because it is brittle, leading to cracking and chipping. Epoxy resin is strong on its own and does not need structural reinforcement like fiberglass resin...

I started to keep track until the number got high enough to make me physically ill. #-o I know it would cost me much less next time since there would be less mistakes and extra product left over from this rebuild.

Bummer about the battery, but at least it's taken care of now.

I agree the 5200, while a permanent seal, does not have the rigidity to drill through after curing and reliably hold the seal like epoxy does. On my temporary transom I fabricated last season and used for 2 months, I only drilled holes, put bolts through them and used stainless steel washers on...

Are you sure it is the bolt holes is where the water is getting in? Did you do any leak tests after originally putting the bolts in? I guess it is conceivable that the water is somehow getting in where you put the 5200 in the 1/2 inch holes. Drilling through the 5200 could have loosened it, and...

I have a rebuild thread going, you can see my progress there, but I am not on to the camo phase yet. This was a preliminary discussion of sorts. I assure you once I attempt this camo pattern I will share the results. :mrgreen:

That's looking great dude. That new transom is mint. I wish I was about to do some crabbing.

I wish I could do 3d modeling like that, it would make planning a boat design way more intuitive. That's a cool looking boat, good luck with it.
