im not sure about for that exact motor but they make diferent intermediate shafts so you can definetly shorten the gap from the motor to pump. Specifically any motor that was put in a stand up ski will have the short shaft. Your motor mounts are very close the intake so you have a pretty short...

    new 4s vs 2s

Don't forget about noise 2 stroke s are a lot louder. I have a 200 pro xs merc with a jet foot and its 10 times louder than my buddies 200 Suzuki (prop). Im not sure how much more noise is added by having a jet but I feel like his boat you cant even hear the motor at idle.

    Mercury 4 stroke 115/80

Buddy of mine has a 115/80 yam on a 1860 tunnel wot your maybe hitting 34-35. Running wide open even with a four stroke you will burn some fuel. I'd get a 20/60 alweld and put at least a 200 if you want a big boat that goes 40

    Outboard jet install questions

Standard steering you don't need hydraulic or nothing like that. Whatever steering that motor would come with for prop will work

Some questions about outboard jet hull sizes

For that boat and 5-6 people you absolutely need the 250 guaranteed. If you do the inboard maybe not.

The boat works well not one complaint.

    2070 alweld

I had some built for another boat I had I believe 3-5 degree rise was what I sall recommended 2-4" above the front seems highly excessive. If your ordering the boat from alweld I wouldn't concern myself at all with the pods they got pods figured out you don't need to make custom ones. I run my...

    2070 alweld

No breaks or anything on trailer. Ya tough call I can't just say get pods you'll love them but no way I'd buy a boat with out them. I plane out a lot shallower too.

    2070 alweld

I couldn't imagine one without pods I wouldn't get one without them. It doesn't slide uncontrollably but if you want to whip the back end you can. The pods are flat with the back I'm not really sure if the rise a bit but I can take a closer look.

Smallest hull rated for a 60 jet?

You won't have a problem getting a 60/40 on a 16-17' boat. Most dealers won't over power boats for whatever reason. But you've got the right idea when It comes to jets if your not getting the biggest motor you can your doing it wrong.
