Something that makes getting rods in and out of rod lockers and out of rod holders easier is to get some rod socks. They're like 5 bucks apiece from Tackle Warehouse or Bass Pro and save tangling line constantly. I just recently bought some and would never go without them again.
Lol I'm sorry because I understand that's all you have to work with, but that would be the funniest rig running down the highway with a 12 foot jon hanging out the back glass of a Ford Explorer. My advice is to find a boat on a trailer for the Explorer.
Lol you need to put a wheely bar on that beast! Those tires look just about like some old school slicks. You need to get some sweet hubcaps for those wheels out of the junkyard and then I would drive the heck out of that trailer!
I know that you wouldn't want to stand up that high in my 1232. I'm going to put a low deck on top of the ribs in the middle and one just high enough to make a level standing area in front of the front seat. The little cap seat on the bow will be covered in carpeted plywood on top of the...
If it was me, I would either use the big head rivets used for doors, fenders, etc on dirt cars such as these:

or exploding aluminum rivets like this if you want smaller heads...
I bought my 1232 in very similar shape for 50 bucks. I got both patches for the 2 wholes in it welded on out of aluminum angle (they were on the ribs) for $15. 65 dollar boat that now doesn't leak whatsoever and is perfect to take in small water and not worry about? I'd say you can't beat that...
This is what I was trying to explain. If you needed extra height you could just use a thicker base board to get it level with the front of the boat. Should look WAY cleaner than the original sketch you had and also be just as strong. Just screw it down to the boat on all the sides.
I'm currently planning on doing the same thing to my boat. Although I'm just going to put a piece of plywood flat across the front of the boat the same shape as the existing front seat. I'm just going to build a mount and carpet it to match the front carpeted plywood. It will be a 2x4 about...
I've used it before, and on a windy day it's questionable as to if it will move the boat. I'm looking to get one just a little bigger than it, if I just knew what it was.
