I duck hunt a very large body of water that barges run constantly. It gets very rough and then add in the prop wash from the barges and it can get hairy. I avoid most of it by running close to the bank, but I have hit some pretty big white caps head on and never has the boat shown signs of...
I have been thinking I need to do some sort of pad on my front deck. When I am picking up duck decoys I typically kneel on the front deck picking them up and running the trolling motor. After picking up a couple dozen decoys my knees are sore. Just haven't decided how I should do it. I was...
I wouldn't consider a 1648 a 5 person boat....not comfortably at least. I fished for many years out of a Lowe 1648 and only once or twice did we have more than 3 people in it. Years ago I hunted out of a 1752 and I still wouldn't consider that a 5 person fishing boat. Too many people too...
I was looking at navigation lights on walmarts website and came across a this bow light/horn combo. Seems like a good way to kill two birds with one stone, but I can't find any details on how they wire up or anything about it. I was hoping someone has seen or used one...
Mine is an 01 Yamaha F25 4 stroke. My experience is with old 2 strokes without thermostats and thermostats in cars. In a car you typically notice a loss of heat or the temp gauge stays low. I was just curious if there was something that would clue you in with an outboard thermo. I am going...
Ok, I got the best pictures I could. The floor covers up the bulk of it but from the pictures I think I can explain it a little better. I also added some pictures of the gun box I built.
Basically I riveted a piece of aluminum flat bar to a piece of aluminum angle and then riveted that to the seat. The flat bar is then riveted to the ribs on each side of the seat. The floor helps to hold the seat down too.
I will try to remember to take a picture tomorrow to give you a...
These are some from when I did it a few years back. Since then I have put a hinge so that the seats tilt inward for access to the batteries which are under the seats. I don't have any pictures of how I braced it but if you would like to know I could tell ya.
If you want an open walkway but also storage, why not split the seat and make two separate storage areas? You can keep your structural strength (or at least most of it) by anchoring it to the ribs with aluminum bar. I did mine a few years back. I use the storage for batteries to shift the...
I tried oiling them up in the past and it never really helped. I tried everything from WD40 to Kroil and same results. I was thinking about grinding the pin down some and seeing if that does the trick.
I have had these seat bases on my boat for about 3 years now. The problem is that the plastic bushing in the center seems too small to me. The pin that goes into it takes a lot of force to pull it out. I've even had one that I had to eventually use a propane torch on to melt the plastic...
I used to run trotlines all the time. Had a decent sized river right up the road and kept the freezer full. I didn't care for swivels because if I got a big fish on there was a chance he would either break the swivel or cut the line. I preferred to make a loop for my drop and the tie two...
I used to see them all the time up in Illinois, but now that we are down in Kentucky (going on 6 years now) I haven't seen a single one. I never once had any luck fishing with them. My grandpa swore by them....of course he also swore you had to spit on your worm to catch fish.
