Has anyone ever heard of this, if you own a 40hp 4 stroke Merc, with the simple purchase of a 60hp ECU, and removal of the intake restrictor, your motor magically turns into an 60hp?

Hey guys, I'm wanting to change my lower unit oil. It calls to replace the two gaskets on the bolts. Can I find this at an auto parts store? It is listed as 8.1-15-1. I'm not sure what that means. Any help?

I like to use Rotella oil. My outboard calls for 10w-40, but Rotella is hard to find in that weight. What should I use as an alternative?

Guy's, wanted to give you an update. I put Sea Foam in the gas tank, took it out, and after a few minutes it started running great! The stuff must work! Thanks for all the help.

I have a 8hp four stroke mercury that is about to go into storage for a few months. What should I do before I place it in storage?

Thanks guys for all of the responses. I will start to investigate. Hopefully it is a fuel issue and not something major with the motor. I'm inclined to think it is since it runs fine when it isn't bogging down.

Thanks for the replies. I don't think there is a fuel leak in the system, After taking the cowling off, everything looked okay. I'll change out the fuel filter. I didn't change it out when I was doing the initial maintenance. That is a good point on the impeller. I did check to see if it was...
