    I'm thinking this isn't normal...

So you guys are saying this is normal and I shouldn't be worried? Lower unit was checked before I put her to bed for the winter and all is well there. I'll take your word for it. The mechanic at the marina said this motor was the first generation and some changes were made so all the bugs...

    I'm thinking this isn't normal...

Hi all. I have a 1974 9.9 HP Evinrude that I picked up last year. It's super clean and was hardly used by the previous owner. I had it gone through at my local marina after it ran a bit rough. After a new carb kit, new spark plugs and new fuel pump later, she runs like a top. I put it...

    Pull rope 74' Evinrude 9.9 ?

I recently just bought the same motor, but I don't have any information for you. Still looking for specs on mine myself.

    What to do

I feel your pain. My wife came in this morning after getting a coffee and wanted to know what I hit with my truck. I said I didn't hit anything...but I was at Wal-Mart yesterday. You know, I park away from just about everyone and walk the extra 100' to avoid this. The part that burns me the...

How to mount up rod holders?

Here's some photos of what I did with mine. I chose these so I could put them where I wanted along the gunnel.

How to mount up rod holders?

I had the same issue on my Hewes Craft with my Scotty rod holders. There was no easy way to attach the base that came with it so I ended up buying the Scotty square rail pontoon mount ($10.99 at Cabela's). It's just a fuzz wider than my gunnel. Drilled two holes, used a wood block and trimmed...

    Bleed out your fish?

We usually bleed out our trout and salmon. Cut the gills and run a rope through the mouth and gills and tie it off the side of the boat for 5 minutes or so while getting back to trolling. Haven't tried it with walleyes, but may consider it now.

New life for an old Smoker Craft

Love the build you did and glad to see the Pacific NW represented here. Just curious about the Coat-It product you applied to the bottom. I went to the Tap Plastics website to get info. How much did you use for the bottom of your boat? I see the 2 lbs. amount and the 8 lbs. amount. Which...

    Applying Hull ID #'s/Letters

Thanks for the info fellas. I'm taking off block style cut-out letters and replacing them with rounded cut-out letters. That's why I'm looking for a way to be able to adjust them slightly during application. I know I can get them level horizontally, I just want to make sure I can get them...

    Applying Hull ID #'s/Letters

Didn't find anything in the search function. I've been researching the application of new vinyl numbers/letters for the hull ID. I've read adding a few drops of dishwashing soap in water before you apply the numbers assists in getting them slide around a bit for adjusting in order to get them...

    Speed question

Brine- She is a great little motor. Far from mint condition, but I plan on making it pretty once I finish my boat mods. Pics to come much later...but she's pretty bulletproof. I fish a lot during the winter and I can get it started in mid 20 degree weather without too many pulls. Stefan-...

    Speed question

I have a '67 6 HP Evinrude Fisherman that runs like a champ on a 12' Hewes Craft V Hull. There's not a lot of weight and it's a pretty light boat. I feel like I should be getting a little more speed than 7 mph at WOT. I've played with the tilt/trim, tune-up, etc. but that's as much as I can...

    Trailer light help...

I spliced in a new plug and now we're working! I never would've thought to look there first. Thanks for all your help and suggestions!

    Trailer light help...

It's not tilt trailer. The plug-in on the trailer side had the wires molded into the plug so there was no way to simply replace the bad ground. You can actually see where the white wire going into the plug isn't quite right, but you would never really notice it if you weren't...

    Trailer light help...

Well, it was a ground issue, but not what you think. The ground wire at the plug-in on my trailer side was faulty. But instead of returning it and pulling wires again, I'm just going to try and find a new four pin plug-in and replace that. Thanks for your suggestions and help!
