    Tracker Grizzly complete rebuild

Aluminum welding shops are few and far between and ones that will weld on a boat are even more rare. You are already paying rent/mortgage on a shop......might as well get the most money you can out of it! Plus im sure your wife would love to not walk into a garage full of welding fumes lol

    5052 or 6061??

    5052 or 6061??

kinda what I was thinking. we use 5052 to make our class 8 fuel tanks here at work so I figured 5052 would weld just fine

Yamaha 784cc into welded mod-v hull

Outside corner welds are a little more difficult. Get yourself a backer bar/plate made out of copper. a 2"wx6"Lx 1/2" thick bar works best and cut a 45 on one end. your welds especially butt welds will improve tremendously! Im also flat out shocked that you are getting any of that wire to feed...

Opinions on an Alweld that popped up

My best friend has a 1999 4x4 Tacoma 4cyl and pulls a 18ft cc tracker for about the last 15yrs. The boat is worth the 2k in my opinion.

    Battery disconnect switch

how is your boat wired? do you have a pos and neg that feeds a fuse panel and all accessories run from that? if so just put in a simple switch before the panel on the positive wire. it would have to be a big enough switch to carry all the amps that all of your accessories use...like maybe a 40A...

    GPS Plotter vs Chartplotter

I have the Garmin striker4 and absolutely love it. I think the 7 is the same just a bigger screen. the chirp sonar lets me see things that I've never seen before and the ease of use is awesome

    welp....time for a rebuild

I'm in north Texas and the sand bass and crappie run up the creeks is just around the corner for us. The hull I have is a 14ft 42" v-bow boat, it is weird shaped to say the least! It is shaped like a piroge....completely flat bottom with about a 2" rise from the bottom of the transom to the...

    welp....time for a rebuild

update 1/9/18 engine is back together and by the grace of sweet baby Jesus this thing somehow cranked...and ran...and idled after about 30 sec of cranking. motor fires right up with just a bump of the starter now! I also picked up 2 14ft jon boats and a trailer for 100$. I need to figure out...

Yamaha 784cc into welded mod-v hull

cedar got to it before I did......110 amps isn't enough even 150amps is definitely on the lower end as far as amperage needed to weld aluminum. Also remember that aluminum has to be ridiculously clean to weld properly. if you are going to be running any long beads don't grind and clean any more...

    Where to put my Console.

welcome to the forum! If this were my project before I did any type of metal work I would start by moving weight around. Like moving the battery and fuel tank to the front. You don't have to make anything remotely permanent in the trial process....just use a ratchet strap to tie things down to...

    2010 Tracker 1860 Conversion!

That prop looks just fine!! might want to bend that one dog ear out with a crescent wrench but a new prop will cost at least 150$. if you don't run in timber or rocks go with a stainless prop and keep that aluminum one as a spare in the boat for an emergency. get some stabil and seafoam in the...
