I have used rattle cans in the past with good results. The secret is in the prep work. Sand the boat to give the paint something to grab hold of, prime any bare areas, and spray away in thin coats. It was a camo job, not sure how well it would work if you wanted to paint the whole boat one...

I went with a homemade version my self. It was based off of the Dillon Racing design. It made a world of difference on my boat. I wanted to make it adjustable, but opted to just weld it solid with the cavitation plate even with the bottom of the transom.
