    rolling/rumble in bearings

Dave: There is zero grease on the inner wheel/hub/grease seal...I imagine it is simply filling the void around the spindle inside the hub.... All: I did the 145mi drive, no issues....now the boat is down in Phoenix, where I am moving in a couple weeks....

    rolling/rumble in bearings

UPDATE: I today tackled my hub re-build.... Removed both hubs, removed grease seal, bearings and outer races....threw the seal, bearings & races away. Pressed/tapped in new races, packed new bearings, assembled with new grease seal and cotter key.... Re-Assembled, re-installed the bearing...

    rolling/rumble in bearings

Thx guys... Yeah, I know the real answer...just wanted to feel out some answers and if I am doing overkill... I ordered up some new bearings and races....gonna 'overhaul' the hubs w/new races, bearings, seal, etc....no sense in the aggravation of a breakdown to save $20 and an hour or so...

    rolling/rumble in bearings

So, I inspected my bearings, they are in great shape...reassembled....and now when I spin/turn the hub, hear a 'rolling' noise...almost a rumble....thoughts? Also, the old grease was very thin, and dark greay.....thoughts?

    Should I repack?

THX for the validation...easy enough to inspect.... If they are good, didn't waste much time... If they are bad...THANK GOD I checked... Either way is a win!

    Should I repack?

Hey Gang, I have bearing buddies on my trailer from previous owner, and when I jack trailer, the tire/wheel spins free and smooth, zero side to side or up and down freeplay.... Should I pull the bearings, or just ensure they have grease from time to time w/bearing buddys.... I am a 'if it...

How essential is a fish finder?

Love mine....a Humminbird Pirahnamax170....I know the inlets and such on my lake by heart, but have found alot of structure and vegetation well offshore, I would never have known about.... And always fun & 'gee whiz' to see depth and surface temps...

Rear boat seat on center or offset?

As mentioned above, I leave the rear seat off, so I can adjust as needed, sometimes sitting facing starboard/front, and sometimes facing port/front.....but generally, I sit in center.... The tiller on most engines, is on the port side AND angles slightly to the port side, so 2' back (say where...

    Pointers on transom rebuild

In picture #1, that is a thrust plate, often original, sometimes added on, or beefed up. It is like a 'scuff pad', and adds protection and reinforcement. The thrust of the motor pushes on that sheet, also, think of the top of the transom as a 'pivot point' when the motor is mounted, this...

    warming an outboard up

I let ALL my engines warm up....no matter if it is a car, boat or airplane.... Engines have dissimilar metals, expand at different rates, etc... But really, what does it hurt to sit at idle for a min or two, while you are getting the fishing rods rigged, turning on the graph, etc.... After a...

    im confused

Here is my headgasket replacement.... I knew/found I had a bad headgasket, when the engine was hard to start, would not idle smoothly, I pulled the top plug...it looked good... I pulled the bottom plug...and the cavity between the electrode and threads was full of clear, clean water! Now...

    New prop

So what did you change: More/less pitch two or three blade? Or was the old prop just tired enough that a new one got you more speed?
