I've always heard that Tohatsus and Mercs under 30 hp are the same engine but Tohatsus are less expensive so you might take that into consideration. Just my 2 cents
I think that the widest I've seen being made currently is the Roughneck 1455 which is 55" wide at the bottom. You normally can get welded boats wider than riveted so I would look, like previously said, at Alweld and Weldbuilt for wider boats.

I know some people like to cut the head off, gut them, & scale them but that leaves the bones. Though it might not be the fastest way, I almost always fillet mine just like you would sac-au-lait. They have to be nice sized bluegill but it's worth it. Hope this helps!
