Look for the most undisturbed water flow. That can be a vee or slick, deeper water. To go down, I turn the bow upstream and use the trolling motor to slowly drop the boat through the same paths as coming up. Sometimes I idle the outboard or even take it up, according to the speed of the river.

Mod-Vee vs flat bottom

Only one I can find is Weld-Craft? Want a mod-vee.

Thinking of building a smaller 1442 or even a 1436 boat when my 1648 jet sells. Reason is that it's hard to put-in a wider boat on my home rivers. Very rocky areas need a smaller hull to access. Would prefer a mod/vee and small jet. Welded would suit.

These mountain rivers around here would be a good place for 14ft modvee with 36-42" width and a smallish jet. I don't know if anyone makes a factory model welded.
