Lawdog's Alumacraft 1648 first duck boat project

Rivets: a little time and effort on each and a heat gun over all of it. Bow eye: I moved the anchor line elsewhere and that solved it for me. I agree on keeping it where it is. I just let out some slack now at launch and give the boat a little shove and it clears away nicely.

Howdy. I have a Merc factory jet which is rated 25 at the jet pump itself. The lower unit is made by Outboard Jets and they outfit a variety of motors by several manufacturers--Merc, Yamaha to name a couple. Mine runs eastern Montana rivers with three guys and full load out for duck...

Lawdog's Alumacraft 1648 first duck boat project

Well, it's been a long time since posting. Life intruded. We have a little lake nearby that is electric motors and paddles only. One trip out with paddles and a trolling motor was in order. I added a Minn Kota Endura 50 trolling motor, a Minn Kota Power Center battery box and got that all up...

    New Minn Kota

Howdy and thanks. I looked to those at Cabela's. See my post on these in this thread: https://www.tinboats.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=13100 Problem is the circuit breaker is only 30 amp for the outside terminals. I ended up spending the extra dough for the MK option. It is very nicely...

    Jack Plates and Outboard Jets

I'd never heard of a "splash plate" either. Any suggestions on where to buy one of these? Anyone have any other picutres of their setup with one of these in place?

    Welcome. Great site.

    New Minn Kota

I am in the same boat. Oops, bad pun. I just got an Endura 50. I am very intrigued by a product called the Minn Kota Power Center. It's basically a $59 battery box that has outside mounted terminals and a built in 60 amp circuit breaker. It's a lot to spend, but the convenience would be...

    Battery Box pros?

Good topic. I just got a Minn Kota Endura 50 for my jon and am trying to decide what to do with my battery box/tray options. I saw a Cabela's branded battery box for $30. It has ports and a built in circuit breaker, but it's only 30 amps. Update: talked to guys at marine shop and at...

    Trailer wheels & tires

I ended up buying new Carlisle tires, from a tire dealer I trust after years of excellent customer service and treatment. I spent $40 a piece. Turned out that my prblem tire was underinflated by 50%, which is absolutely my fault. I don't know for how long it was this way. Tire guy stressed...

    trolling motor for Alumacraft 1648

Thanks guys. I guess I'll get to looking for the other parts I need--battery and case. Redbug: nice CW reference. :)

    trolling motor for Alumacraft 1648

Howdy. I've recently been considering a trolling motor for my boat to use in a local small lake that is electric only. Occasional river use too, probably. My boat is an Alumacraft 1648 that weighs about 480# with the outboard attached. Before I could do too much research, I stumbled on a...

Man, you are a skeptic! :) 1) Already sideswiped it good into some Russian Olives. 2) Sand and rocks are part of life when you run jets in rivers. I'm telling you, this stuff is tough. We'll see how it lasts... fingers crossed. Inside? Not soon... $$$. :(
