Jumper cables WILL get hot running a trolling motor.. don’t do it... or... keep a good serviceable fire extinguisher handy!!

You could replace it with a new sealed piece of plywood and get another several years.. I’d replace it with a piece of aluminum and it’ll last the rest of the life of the boat.. I cut out a piece of aluminum and bonded it to mine with 3m 5200 to cover some old mounting holes..

Without more info, I say the motor needs to be raised..

I think for the money, it’s hard to beat an all welded hull built in Arkansas.. pick a brand.. alweld, weld-craft, Southfork, Xpress and all about the same.. I do like the wareagles a lot.. but I think my next one is gonna be either a custom ordered alweld, or I’ll just have a custom hull...

I have a 14 foot Jon boat in my yard that's on its way to one of those yards... I had stripped it all out a few years ago... The crate with all the brackets and ribs and hardware I took off of it got lost.. So it's just a shell and has a few little corrosion spots.. Not really worth fooling...
