    Inverter light setup

What types of lights are you trying to run? I run a 24" fluorescent green light and two regular fluorescent blubs seems to work decent. I had the 24" blub on a 12v ballast, but it died and it was cheaper to just get a120v ballast to replace it with. I would love to go all 12v led.

1975 mercury 200 hard to pull

Good luck with the electric start. I've fixed up two 20's from the era. Took all the electric start off both. Much cleaner easier to work on with out it. But would be neat to have.

Rust in bottom of 6gal gas tank

Muratic acid. Had to do it to a motorcycle tank. Lots of rinsing.

Also make sure it is in water or on the muffs before you try and start it. If your slowly turning it over your water pump should survive. And on that note I'd be ready to put a new impeller in the lower unit and replace the lower unit oil.

Leave the spark plugs out when you work in the oil. Will give you a better idea if the stiffness is coming from the compression/pistons or else where in the motor.

    aluminum transom

Bass boy, That transom is sweet. Hadn't thought of doing it that way. I see that you are an aluminum fabricator, what would a customer expect to pay to have some exactly like what you built fabricated for a similar boat. I'm just thinking that is going to cost a whole lot more than a sheet of...

    Battery protection

Does the trailer have leaf springs? What size trailer tires? A trailer should be matched to the weight it is intended to carry. I agree with less air pressure in the tires. But that might lead to tire failure. My batteries are all in battery trays that are secured to the floor. Then there is...

    Boat Trailer build

That hurt my brain. I don't see where you are getting that. 1/8" wall tube is really strong stuff. Some of that strength is from its shape. A spring mount has to be thicker because it is shaped differently and it has a 9/16th hole drilled through it. The logic of of attaching dissimilar...

    aluminum transom

Most transoms are close to 1.5" thick. Normally made from two 3/4 pieces of plywood sandwiched together. Here plywood is actually preferred because the grains go in multiple directions. The problems come in when holes are drilled into that wood and let water seep in. You can combat this by over...

    guide posts vs. guide boards

I know you don't want to hear this but if you want galvanized just buying a set that was made for what you want to do is going to be the easiest solution. If your going to make something I wouldn't even worry about galvanized. It'll just drive the cost up to the point you could just buy the...
