So I have a 25HP Johnson from 69 that is a short shaft but I need a long shaft for my boat. It starts well and seems to be a good motor save for needing a new seal on the lower unit. I’ve been looking at parts to extend to a long shaft and wanted to confirm that I only need the 5” housing...

There are several alternatives that do not contain MEKs. I'd hold off on sinking large sums of money into the wire wheel market. :)

Just verifying that I need a long shaft for this boat. Its got a 68' 9.5 Johnson that runs great but I'm looking to add at least a 25hp for some larger/unrestricted lakes around my area. Thanks in advance.

I just bought a 1978 14’ Lund Big Fisherman a couple weeks ago. Your layout and build looks great. My boat has a casting deck already but I want it redesigned to maximize storage and to get the foot controller for the trolling motor recessed. I may just copy your design :LOL2: well done!
