So I tried filling it up today to check for leaks... however about half way through my sawhorse the boat was sitting on started to sink... and it started raining right after I picked the boat up off the sawhorse...
Maybe will try some concrete pads to set the sawhorses on. From first glance...
Hi all... I have been away for a really long time since I sold my Arkansas Traveler, but this weekend I picked up a 1970 Ouachita 1636 Jon. I also picked up a outboard to go with. I need to take all the paperwork down to TPWD to transfer everything over... hopefully it doesn’t take too long...
Well I went to look at it and its not 15'-6" its 14'-6"...and the usgs plate was under the carpet...didnt know you could legally do that... Its a 3 person or 740 lbs of total capacity... No bigger than the one I have now...darn.
Oh well I will keep working on the one I have lol.
Hi guys I am looking into another boat mainly because of capacity. I am trying to identify this 1987 Duracraft boat. I have looked up the Texas parks and wildlife info and it says it's 14' long. The guy selling it says it measures 15'-6". With the bottom of the boat being 4'-10" wide. Not...
So to clarify I did 1 rivet. I wanted to see if the rivets would work for the holes. I have never riveted a boat before. So instead of buying a whole bag of rivets and them not working. I used one of the free ones that came with my rivet gun :-D
A little more progress lol. All of my old hardware is rusted and I think I am going to have to get the grinder out to remove some of the angles and rusted screws.
So I got my new rivet gun :-D
It looks like the holes I patched with the screws and rubber gaskets are 3/16" holes. Here are the results.
I used an open blind rivet but I am going to switch to the closed rivets for the actual repairs.
So I got my boat back to the house this last week...I ended up finding a bunch of my old parts and pieces in the shed that I can still use so I wil be staying with my original color scheme of gray inside. Found my seats and my carpet!
So here it is sitting at my folks place.
She's in...
So all the plates I see state:
Max Persons = 5 people or 750 lbs
Max weight (Gear, persons, & Motor) = 1050 lbs
Like this
I have been doing more research on this and every plate I see seems to have 2 options the max number of people and then to total max weight which includes the motor...
Would 1/2" plywood work for decking horizontal surfaces and 1/4" plywood for vertical surfaces work? I am going to be doing framing out of aluminum or 1x3s & 1x2s Trying to keep the weight down.
