My SeaArk 1448 riveted hull weights 245 according to the specs. It would plane with a 9.9hp evinrude 2 stroke ONLY with me and gas tank add any more weight, it wouldn’t plane. Upgraded to a Merc 25hp 2 stoke and it plane 5 adults or 29moh by myself.
Bringing this back to life, because I just recently weighted a couple boats. The camo one is an Alweld 1852SJ in .080”. It has two 18”x 24” boxes at the rear bench and perforated floor. The OD green is a Blazer 1748 standard in .080” with two 18” x 24” boxes at mid seat withe perforated...
So your saying the Tohatsu is out performing the Merc with a bigger load?? I would’ve thought the Merc with the large pump would’ve been better with the heavier load.
Sorry....I’m talking about the Tohatsu 60/40 four strokes, not the older two strokes. I’ve seen one video of one and looks like Rothwell marine has rigged some on an Express 1650. Rothwell said it kept right up with the Merc 60/40.
Interested in this motor and looking to see if anyone has this motor or driven one. It has the medium pump on it and weights in I think at around 237lbs. Thanks!
I've never been in a boat with a 40/30 jet, but I have been in my buddy's Alweld 1852 sport jon .080" with a Merc 60/40 and it does great, even with four average size guys. Was just trying to save some weight on the motor and I'm not wanting an 1852, I'd like a 16-1752 in .080" which won't be...
I agree!! The tiller makes for soooo much quicker steering. Just a tip anybody that's getting a custom hull like Alweld, Blazer etc... can have the rear bench seat mount a little further forward so the bigger tillers of these new motors work great, just like the smaller length tillers from...
That’s good speed with that load in your boat. The Weldbilt in the video probably weights 360 lbs. in .080” according to their website. Anybody else running a Yamaha 40/30 four stroke?
