    S.E. Massachusetts? Non-profesional tournaments?

I'd like to try this again this year. I know that we can have a tourrny w/o a permit on bilington sea (plymouth) and my home lake (monponestt in Halifax). If we get at least 6 boats, we will pick a date. OR, if you have a tournny coming up soon, we'd love to participate (we have a 17' jon boat...

    S.E. Massachusetts? Non-profesional tournaments?

Wow. Awesome reply Derek. I found these sites that list events & clubs. The tourneys you listed above are below our HP. https://www.bassdozer.com/bass_clubs.shtml https://www.mass.gov/dfwele/pab/pab_schedevents.htm

    S.E. Massachusetts? Non-profesional tournaments?

Any interest? Im not sure I can really organize, but how hard can it be to have some guys meet on a sunday morning for some friendly fishing competition? Like many on this site, we have a home made jon boat, not a $60K rig. Like minded anglers NEED APPLY. We'll see if we can put something together.

    PROP INSTALLATION?

We have all of the parts in the picture installed in perfect order (from our manual). The prop has about 1/16 inch "play" in/out (not turning play). We are debating whether this is right, or are we missing a shim? Sorry. the motor is a Nissan/Tohatsu 70HP w. power trim. I think its a...

    How many batteries

Everyone says the same thing...here's an idea, hook it up with a solar charger. I plan on installing one this year. A friend runs a bettery shop and says he has one that is designed for boats & RV's that is waterproof that can be attached directly to the battery for around $30. Below is a link...

    interstate marine battery

1st I would tell you that there is a difference in batteries, besides the $$. If you want to save some $$ and still get a great battery, find your local interstate distributor. If it's close enough to drive, give them a call and ask for a deep cycle "recon" or blem. Interstate recons vary from...

    How does this happen!?

So we finally got some bearable outdoor weather, so I went out to take a closer look. Like I said, it was perfect for awhile, then suddenly last year it started to "slip" under higher loads, and stop pumping water at high speeds. My father thought maybe he installed the new prop incorrectly? HE...

can i get in trouble for this?

Well, I have a 17' jon boat that is fully decked like an aircraft carrier! The boats plate says its rated for up to a 40HP, or at least it used to say that until it mysteriously disappeared from the boat  The 1st 2 years we ran a 35HP 2 stroke that would barely push the boat thru the...

    motor question

Meanmouth said: "Your Max HP for a modified boat is 95 HP. (95.6 is closer to 95 than 100). This is of course if you safely, and accurately improved the boats structural components". Any links here showing ideas to accompllish this (improved structural components)?

    How does this happen!?

We did not change the lower unit, and I don't see oil on the ground or on the unit.

    How does this happen!?

See the picture...This is a 70HP Nissan we bought last summer. It ran like new for awhile, then it started to "slip" (like a clutch slipping in a car), and it would stop pumping water at anything faster than a jog. We put the boat away for the winter, and when I just went out to look at it for a...

is my motor cavitating? pulling more air than water?

The motor is an 88 suzuki. the only thing we did was tune it up and put on a new prop.

is my motor cavitating? pulling more air than water?

We just upgraded from our very underpowered 35HP to a 70HP on our 17' jon boat. We had to raise the transom 4" so that the cavitation plate would be 1" below the bottom of the boat (which is what was recommended everywhere I researched). When we power it up and try to plane out, it's like it's...

Can I use any control box on a Nissan outboard?

I would have to clip off the wiring harness plug and krimp on connectors, but will the colors be the same as what's on my motor so it's fairly easy?
