Yeah I'd definitely say engine problem, either your mounting height or trim is funky or it's not making all it's power.

Look into hydro turf instead of carpet some nice stuff from what I've saw.

I put a stainless on my 25hp yamaha after knocking a blade off the aluminum prop and bending the shaft. I had some pretty hard hits with the stainless and never had any problems.

I know this is an old thread, but mine was doing the exact same thing. Noticed fuel wasn't getting to the filter on the motor, new fuel lines and tank fixed it right up.

I run a 98 3cyl and run 50:1 don't have any problems with it. If you're looking for a little more power out of it throw some 30hp jets in there. Little motors will scoot if you know what to do with em.

Well today my new powertech stainless prop came in. My old aluminum prop had a plastic piece that fit between the gearcase and propeller. It doesn't fit on the stainless one, so I'm assuming I don't need one? Also bent my prop shaft this morning so doesn't look like I'll get to use this prop...

I had a 20 on my 1648. With me another person and the thick plywood floor it did around 19~22.

Alright thank you I'll put in an order for one. As far as mods go when I bought it the fella said it had head shaved, carbs re jetted with 30 jets and exhausted opened up. I plan to get some tohatsu m40d carbs in the future with a performance head and tuner. And possibly new pistons, atleast...

10 inch diameter 14p , motor is a 97, supposed to turn about 5700

Well I have a 25 hp three cylinder yami on a 16 foot flat bottom jon. Right now I'm running 30 mph with a 14p aluminum prop at 4500rpms according to my tiny tach. I was thinking about stepping down to a 12p, thoughts? Also just wondering if I have my tach set right, shows idle at around...
