    What motor size?

Nice Motor Don't be disappointed if you don't hit the high 20's. I could only hit 28-29 mph with 25 or 30 hp motors on a 15' boat. I got low 30's with a 40hp motor. My boat is heavier because its decked out but still..... You will hit low 20's and maybe 25 mph if the wind and current is right.

Anybody here ever converted a bench seat into a livewell?

I don't have pics. I also sold the boat earlier in the year. I was having the same issues of adding a livewell and then a guy brought up the idea and I said what the heck.... It was my first time working with fiberglass and I pretty much sucked at it but it turned out pretty good in the end. I...

Anybody here ever converted a bench seat into a livewell?

I had a 15' aluminum v-hull boat and I put a livewell in the middle bench. I made it out of fiberglass. It's fairly easy to do and cheaper then drop in livewells that won't fit right. I probably did not use it more then 20 times over the years but it never leaked, cracked, or created any issues...

Jack Plate, Pros / Cons ?

I built one for my 15' Gregor V-hull with a 25hp Evinrude. I don't think it done much although it did look cool. If you make one make sure you get 4" angled aluminum. If you go smaller the motors transom clamps could hit your transom. The additional set back was kind of a pain to reach back the...

Jack Plate Installed w/ Pic, REV tested and need some advice

Looks almost identical to the one I built. The issue I had with mine is that all I could get was 3" angled aluminum. I figured it would be ok but after I mounted the outboard and lowered it the transom clamp screws hit the transom before I could get it lowered enough. It would work fine if I...

    68 Evinrude Electric Start Help

I used a 15 amp marine horn button for mine. It's only about $6.00.

    18hp too big?

A guy I know has an 18 on a smaller boat then that and he wants to get a 25hp motor.

What's the value of my motor?

You would be better off checking your local craigslist and the completed auctions on ebay for a value. Appearance is the biggest factor in price and you didn't include a pic.

Suitable motor for my vintage Aroliner?

You can turn that 20hp motor into a 25, 30, or 35hp motor with a carb swap and a possibly an intake manifold (unless you can bore the existing one out to accommodate the larger throat of the new carb. You might have a tough time getting going pulling a tube with a 20hp motor but it can probably...

Found some nice used 2strokes or new 4stroke

Good info. There could be a difference in how the motors perform if tested on a boat with a heavier load. I think the Merc a re-badged Tohatsu. I would lean towards the Suzuki as well. Do they make a 25hp motor? My info above was wrong. I tested a 9.9 motor and a 15 hp motor (not a 25hp...

Suitable motor for my vintage Aroliner?

That 33 looks BIG but it would probably work. Your boat can handle 33hp. That is a short shaft on that boat. You can pick up those older motors fairly cheap like around $300 or so. I wouldn't buy the whole boat package since the boat is probably rotted and worthless. That old trailer ain't worth...

    Its time for a 15hp carb! Mariner 9.9 1982

I would sell your motor and just buy a 15hp OMC motor around the same year as your current motor. Yamaha's bring a premium in price so you might be able to sell your motor and buy a 15hp OMC and not be out any money. OMC motors are just as reliable as the Yamaha's. Parts are considerably cheaper...

Found some nice used 2strokes or new 4stroke

I tested a 15hp Evinrude and a 25hp Evinrude on the same boat with the same load on the same day. The 25hp motor only ran a few mph faster on GPS then the 15hp motor. However the 25hp motor took off way faster and if I was cruising at half speed and nailed the throttle it would get to WOT...

Found some nice used 2strokes or new 4stroke

A 25hp on any of the boats you mentioned won't be scary fast. I ran a 25hp on a 12' Klamath v-hull for years and it ran about right. The difference between a 20hp motor and a 25 would only be a few mph top end max. The 25 will have a lot more lower end power to get you going especially if you...
