To flyline light baits a long way - best light line rod?

I'm in Southern California, generally clear waters and pressured fish. I want to try to flylining small unweighted plastic swimbaits, 3" worms, and the like, but I need to throw these light baits a long way - with stealth, outside of the fish' spook zone. I'll be using 4-6 pound mono or...

    alternative carpet material

Just stain the plywood; won't peel or crack; you can touch it up where it wears; allows the wood to breath - less rot. Screw a hardwood 1x3 stringer or two across the bottom of your plywood deck lid to take the "bounce" deflection out of it and glue and screw 1x3 ledgers to support the lid...

    Maintenace free deep cycle battery

Ditto that. IMO, a good reason to go 24 volt, less likely to pull them down that far.

    over sized pistons

Back when I was young dumb and without money, I restored compression to my Yamaha two stroke motorcycles by just re-ringing them. When the pistons were collaped - that is, when the taper was gone - I knew a guy who would shot peen the inside of the skirts. A quick shot would blow the skirts...

drider - Since I'm in Los Angeles too and I have two Gregors right now and one of them, a 15 footer with tall 20" transom, is about to go up for sale . . . . sent you a PM. We could go for a boat ride and answer your question.

    What's up with this bass?

Common when there's overpopulation of bass, the ratio of bass to bait is too high. Very common in private ponds where too few juvenile (1 - 2 lbs) fish are taken, where there's too much catch and release of those small to mid size fish. Or there may not be enough safe spawing ground, or too...

Post a Pic of your boat!

Nice save. I like those rounded corners, almost art deco in style.

Foam under the decking, pros and cons...

Yep, dented/punched it, but it's 30 or 40 pounds lighter than 1/2" and the floor pieces are one piece, easily removable to a clean and dry inner hull.

Foam under the decking, pros and cons...

I used 1/2" for my casting deck and 1/8" over styrofoam board for my floors. As for the 1/8", I punched a hole in it with the gear shift lever when I dropped the outboard down onto it too quickly.

Foam under the decking, pros and cons...

For decking, out of concern for weight and because I didn't want the weight of carpet and I wanted a veneer to stain, I decided on 1/2" solid core interior grade. It gets wet occasionally, so what? It dries, isn't sitting in a bilge . . . Underneath the decking, contact cement out of a spray...

Help on what fuel additives to use

If you disconnect/shut the gas off and run it until it quits/dry, then the ethanol gas can't coagulate and clog carb jets or fuel injectors. Then, if the gas isn't too old, you can run it, at some loss of octane rating. The next stage of deterioration/complcation is the precipitation of...
