Hey guys, buddy was saying I could have this motor if i made it run. Trying to figure out exactly what it is. Pretty sure it's a 1948 Evinrude 1.5 HP. Can really find anything on google images that matches what it is and describes the motor. Couldn't find anything on the top cowl either.

alright guys thanks for the help. did a lot of research last night and came to the conclusion that they are **** near impossible to find anyways so I might as well stick with the tiller control.

Yeah I'm getting the feeling the tip-ups is generally more of a North Eastern thing. I Jig to pass the time occasionally too, but most Mainers gear their traps towards trout, which usually don't strike unless it's live bait swimming on it's own.

I went ahead and bought the wire winch mostly because the wire can be coiled at any angle. I felt as though the strap would create difficulties and that the boat would have to be dead on to the winch for the strap to coil properly. I also went with the 1,000 pound winch. it was only 5 dollars...

the threads on the tube do not thread into the bottom screw...I loose a lot of oil just trying to get it in.
