    torn weld repairs?

Thanks, guys. I arrived at the same conclusion: 270lb Yamaha jet on a short transom with a CMC lift adapter which puts it pretty high, no transom saver (not sure how they work with a jet anyway), and 5 years of trailering on bad roads. A friend fixed it the other day. Not pretty, but beefy, and...

    torn weld repairs?

I have a 16'x56" flat bottom welded jon (Weldbilt) with a Yamaha 60/40 tiller. Purchased new in 2014. You guys were really helpful when I was looking for the boat and when I had some issues with overheating when the boat was new. I was doing some service on the trailer and noticed a pretty bad...

    Any center forward console owners?

If you ever want to row your boat for more than emergency purposes, tiller or forward center console are the only real options. I don't think there are a lot of people that row their jet boats on this forum, but in Michigan, Montana, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, lots of jet boats are rigged for...

Yamaha performance bulletin 40/30 vs 60/40

Definitely confused! But thanks for the response because I think you do a good job of bringing out where I'm getting confused. If the difference the extra horsepower makes is the ability to maintain the same RPM with more mass, i.e. more water, the difference between 40/30 and 60/40 is nothing...

    new jet jon

Definitely sounds like you have the same problem. Does your tell-tale/tail get hot? Does it cool down when you increase RPMs past about 2000? My problem actually went away. I'm not sure when or how. I just wasn't ever idling for more than 30 seconds or so. Never was a problem. Ran great. Then...

Yamaha performance bulletin 40/30 vs 60/40

This has been bothering me for a while, bored at work now, so I thought I'd ask. The Yamaha performance bulletin for the 40/30 jet and the 60/40 jet are very similar. Same total boat weight, more or less, same top speed, same acceleration, if anything, the 40/30 does better. Does the 60/40...

    new jet jon

Loose- I thought that was definitely the problem when I read the manual too, but when I opened it up, everything was fine. The nylon insert was not present and the water tube seems to mate perfectly with the outlet of the water pump housing. mphelle- I'll double check it when I put the...

    new jet jon

The place I bought it is 5 hours away, Ducky's Boats near Harrisburg PA. I called once and talked to somebody who said they'd call me back, but they never did. Last time I tried to call it went to voicemail and it said the voicemail was full. Either way, I'm not taking it back down there...

    new jet jon

Overheat at idle update: Spoke with Outboard Jets and they said to fill bleed hole in the water pump housing or put a F60 stock water pump housing on which doesn't have the bleed hole. So I bought one for $20 and put it on. Still had the problem. Genuine overheat at idle after about 1 min of...

    jetjon build

I am super envious of your tools and your abilities with metal. I wish I had both! What thickness aluminum did you use for the floor?

    new jet jon

It's definitely a 60/40. Under the hood it's all F60. It says "40 Jet Drive" on the cowling. Lots of developments on the overheating at idle issue. Will report back after I run it with the modifications.

    new jet jon

I'm in Western New York State. I used to live in Northern Michigan. Pretty similar weather here. Took the boat out yesterday for the first time. Definitely needs some tweaks. I didn't run it over about 1/3 WOT and it jumped right up on step. But it porpoises really badly. I need to move a lot...

    new jet jon

Thanks guys. Excited to get it out tomorrow. Most of the complaints about the e-tec were high incidence of warranty issues. People love the motors, but lots of "out of the box" problems. The two stories that really changed my mind: (1) a friend that has guided in Alaska for several years works...

    new jet jon

Just picked up my first jet jon yesterday. Was all set to pull the trigger on an E-tec and Polarkraft, but then I found a Weldbilt dealer relatively close by and one in-person look at them taught me a lot about jon boats. Also, all I heard was negativity about the E-tecs from friends who have a...

    Polar Kraft Outfitter 1654

New guy here shopping around for a jet jon and pretty much decided on a Polar Kraft 1654 Outfitter and a tiller 60/40 etec. Will be running it on the upper Allegheny River and tribs in NW PA. Looking for a high quality, bare bones fishing boat that will take me and one or two others where we...
