    Cooking on your boat?

We have always had a little propane grill on our bigger boat (20ft pontoon), I have a little Coleman portable propane grill/stove (like the one in the picture but mine is red) that I take in my little tinny.

    Anchor rigging?

Best anchor you can buy IMO. These anchors will hold large boats in place and don't weigh a ton. Like others have said use a 3-5ft peace of chain, it help slide the ring back and forth.

My Grandpa's 1954 Lone Star Cruisemaster

My dads an amazing man that's for sure, he's a retired structural engineer so stuff like that comes real easy to him. I bet if I go through some old albums I could find some pics.

My Grandpa's 1954 Lone Star Cruisemaster

Yeah thats my next project, maybe this winter. Its a 1959 Serro Scotty that was given to me a couple years ago. The outside is a little beat up but the inside is in really good shape! I need to clean out the garage and pull it in this fall and start redoing the outside.

My Grandpa's 1954 Lone Star Cruisemaster

Nope all aluminum, it was originally a 21ft boat. After a engine fire and it sinking at lake Powell in 1986, my dad cut off the damaged transom and added 4ft to make room for a 350 small block inboard. We ran it for about 10 years before the motor through a rod. It again sat until about 2011...

My Grandpa's 1954 Lone Star Cruisemaster

This boat has been in our family since it was new. My grandfather bought this boat in 1955 in Portland, Or. It's been though a lot over the years, it's fallen off the trailer on Interstate 70, it's been on fire, it even spent a couple weeks at the bottom of Lake Powell. For the last couple years...

    newbie needs some help

You should be able to unbolt the transom board and pull it out. Soak all the bolts in PB blaster. Use the old rotten board as a template and cut yourself a new one out of 1" plywood (marine grade if possible), or what ever thickness the old one is. If there are parts that are rivited you'll have...

    Could I run dual motors?

Years ago I went fishing with a guide service out of Homosassa, Fl. I believe the guides name was Frank Roush. He ran twin tiller 115hp mercs on a 24ft (96" wide) homemade wooden flat bottom boat (that he made himself). He used his whole body to steer the motors by standing in between them and...

    $150 yard sale find!

I just called a marine shop/boat dealer and I'm dropping it off on Friday to have it tuned up "right"! They also have a lower unit off a 1976 110 there that might fit it. If it does they said they would trade me straight across for mine, I'll just have to pay for the labor.

    $150 yard sale find!

Well the Mercury 110 is unsiezed! I soaked it overnight with PB Blaster, then used a brass rod to rattle the cylinder through the spark plug holes while turning the prop and presto chango the motor is free!! I'm still going to use the Ted Williams motor for a while though. I would like to find a...

    $150 yard sale find!

Thanks for the tips guys. I do have some PB Blaster in the garage, I'll give it a try when I get home. I don't think I'll beat it with a hammer, I'll leave that to the professionals. And my Minn Kota 45 PowerDrive was delivered yesterday so hopefully I won't have to paddle my "unfortunate a$$"...

Heres a question for you. Before I left his shop he pulled the plugs and sprayed wd-40 in the holes. He said it could help loosen things up? Have you heard of that?

    $150 yard sale find!

onthewater102 - Thats was the first thing I asked him. He said it was spitting water but not running. I guess I should clear up the fact that he's not a "boat motor mechanic" either. He has a small engine shop, works mainly on chainsaws, mowers, go-carts, ect. The closest marine machanic is...

    $150 yard sale find!

Bad news on the motor front. While the mechanic was testing the newly overhauled motor it got extremely hot, he shut it off and left it over night. The next day he came back to a seized piston. Lame! He did give me a "cherry" 1973 Ted Williams 9.9hp as a replacement. I gave him what he had into...
