I ran my 6hp merc in a barrel today. After running it I noticed a brown oil coming from the middle of the prop. It does exhaust thru the prop. Is this just residue from the exhaust or is the gear lube leaking somewhere and it is running out the prop?

I have a 6hp merc 86/87 year. It has no spark at the bottom plug and runs rough. I think the switch box is bad for the coils. Not sure about any other problems. How much is the motor actually worth before I sink a bunch of $$ into it? Don't want to spend $400 and it only be worth $500.

How far apart should I put the bunks on my trailer to support my boat it's a 1436. I was gonna put them outside the last rib so I wouldn't smack my transducer. Is that too far of a span in the middle (24")? Should they be closer than 24" apart?

Just put the 1st coat on my boat and trailer. That stuff from parker is really nice. Just wondering how long I should wait between coats. Is 24hrs enough?

What do you guys recommend to support the front of my 14' jon. A roller and bracket or a bunk. Redoing my trailer with 5' composite bunks and lenthening the tongue to 10' so the entire boat sits on the trailer. Is one that much better than the other? Is there that much weight to be concerned...

The rear bench seat in my jon has cracks around previous bolt holes. How can I make a lasting fix of these cracks? I thought about riveting another piece of aluminum on top the length of the bench. Any other suggestions?

I plan on installing seat bases, the 3/4" pin type on my two benches. I will put 1/2" poly sheeting on top of the bench and will fit a smaller piece of 1/2" poly under the aluminum bench. If I attach the bases to that using tee nuts on the bottom, will that be solid enough or should I use 1"...

I am trying to find a good way to attach a seat to my jon boat bench that is secure for my 6 yr old. The regular clamping ones don't seem to hold too well. I don't want a tall pedestal for the middle seat, just something low. If it could be adjusted left and right that would be nice also...

Pondering an '81 lowe 1436 for $350. Looks in good shape. No trailer, already had one from previous boat. This boat is stout. My only concern, will this be steady enough with my 6 yr old boy?. I don't plan on building high decks, just a flat floor and using the bench seats.
