    Outboard not turning over

It's been taking several times to get the 9.9 Yammy 4 stroke. This morning got it started, ran 30 minutes to my spot and fished. Heading for the next stop and it won't turn over. Electricked over to a different spot, fished for an hour and tried to start it, it turned over. Two questions: 1...

May have been posted but not with pic

I want to change the opening on the bow of my G 3 1756 from circular to rectangle. There’s the pic of the current opening and the blade I was thinking about using. Before I do the cut, do you think: A. Is it worth it? B. More difficult than I think? C. Correct tool? Thanks!

    Attaching new outboard

I’m thinking about getting a new outboard BUT I’m unsure if the attaching screw pattern between a 2012 and 2022 Yamaha 9.9 remote steering. Do I need to use screws through the transom if the pattern does not match well? Thanks

    New Yamaha outboard

After some thought, I may go with a new outboard rather than looking to fix the old one. There’s a bit more to it than I could get into but, it’s a trip that has long since sailed. Anyway, I went to Yammy website, it doesn’t appear they are making a remote steering anymore, unless I missed...

    Yamaha 9.9 4 Stroke issue

Any ideas as to why above outboard type would just shut off? Then it won’t turn over, if it were a car, it probably make that clicking sound, like there’s a problem with the starter. If I give a few minutes, it will turn over and start again. Thanks

    New trailer tires?

My trailer is 11 years old. How many years should I expect to get from them? Where do I get new ones if needed? Thanks

    Portable chargers vs on-board chargers

I’m running the typical 12V + 24V set up. I’m debating whether to pick up another portable charger for a total of 3 OR should I just bite the bullet and set-up an on-board system? Safety is Priority 1. Convenience is secondary. Is there plug it in and forget it option? What are ballpark $$$...

Finding components for maintenance and upgrades

Need new plastic plate for my trolling motor plug. Need new aluminum screws for various stuff on the boat. Little things like that. Where would I find stuff like that? Tried the dealer and manufacturer and was told they only carry the stuff for a few years. Happy New Year!

    Oscillating saw for cutting aluminum

I’m thinking about cutting the baseball sized hole in the bow to a hole about the size of cigarette pack, rectangle it out.

    When is pro install required?

I’m thinking about upgrading to a “7” level fishfinder. I’m hoping I can use the current bracket (transom). At what point should one “bite the bullet” and have the electronics installed professionally? Thanks

    Charging battery

I just charged my battery for a trip tomorrow but then changed time from DST to EST, I don’t have to charge again for that minute, do I?

    Charging batteries

Okay, I charged my batteries and went fishing. All is fine. So, should charge the batteries again after using and charge again before fishing OR just charge before fishing again? Thanks

    On Board chargers -

Are they worth it? I have two portable chargers for my three batteries that I use before my trips. I see a lot of dissatisfaction with on-board chargers. One of my portable chargers is on it’s last legs, should I just by another or is an onboard charger worth it? Thanks

    Bear trailer issue

This morning while towing to my local lake, the hitch cap came undone from the hitch and sent the trailer tongue crashing to the road. With the assistance of a couple of guys I was able to get the trailer back onto hitch and get home. This is the second time that it’s happened. The first time...

It’s that time of the year! 100 questions

    1. My MinnKota 70lb Maxxum is 11 years old, still going strong. Thinking about dropping down to a 45lb troller because I generally get from Point A to Point B on the outboard now —- NJ lakes vs SC lakes. Opinions? 2. Need some plastic covers for trolling motor plug. G3 sez they’re not...

I messed up today with trailer

I was getting ready to load the boat and backed down the empty trailer down the ramp. I checked the tire before putting the boat on the trailer and thought I should move the trailer toward the center of the ramp, away from the dock. Needless to say, I was right, the tire was too close to the...

    Pedastals - threaded vs non-threaded

Does anybody know how to tell if your boat pedestals are threaded or not threaded? I have a 2011 G3 1756SC. Thanks.

9.9 Yamaha 4 stroke stopped running

I was headed in for the day today after a 1/2 hr run from the ramp to my first fishing spot, a 10 minute to the next spot, a 10 minute run to the last spot before headed into the ramp. Turned the ignition, all was fine, then about 3 minutes the outboard stopped dead. No alarm sounds, buzzers...

    Front deck layout

I want to do something new with the front deck but the G3 design with the fuel filler door and gas tank makes it a bit difficult. Another problem is the 9.9 outboard limit, puts all the weight forward. I think I’m due for a new trolling motor. The current one is 11 years old. I spoke with a...
