I had a setback... After 10 months she finally started to leak, and boy was it a good amount. It seems some of the JB Marine Weld repairs I did did not hold up. Sanded everything down and now I am in the process of using aluminum brazing rods to patch up 2 really bad areas. Wish me luck.

Finished boat: Very long, hard work. Took about 2 months and about $600. Looks good and doesn't leak. If you do your boat add a hardener to the paint. My paint job is not as durable as I'd like.

No, looking back I would have rented the biggest compressor I could of and bought the equipment. Total less than $100.

I'd pull it out then do what you need to the bost and then put in a new transom.

Very good, similar to what I am working on with my 1436.

At the very least put in decking on top of the ribs. You'll be glad you did when hit the water the first time and you can move thru the boat without tripping over the ribs.

Do you have a source for this or experience, or is this just what "you've heard." I haven't found this to be the case in my experience. Not calling you out I just want to get the correct information out there.

I'm decking my 1436 but the deck will end up being about 3-6" above the floor ribs. I hope this works out, from others I've seen do it this way I think it'll be good.

I picked up the Hummingbird 550 from Academy for $149, seems to be a really good deal.

NO---use aluminum ones, those are made from other metals=bad idea. I got mine from Northern tool, cost around $12. Look on youtube to see how to use them.
