Thank You for your time. I bou :x ght the motor without the choke, But i had no idea it would be this hard to fix.

I have been looking and searching for a choke (the whole assembly) for my 1982 merc. I have gone to merc and they no longer make parts for my motor. I have gone to alot of the local marinas to find a motor that I could get the choke off of, but they dont have a motor they are willing to part out...

The knob that is on the outside of the motor that helps choke it the piece on the inside has broken off the choke knob

This is really close to call but if i had to choose i would go with the jon just because it is a little bigger and can hold a little more weight and can be a good all around boat to hunt and fish in. It is all in what you wont and i would think you could work on the jon alot easier too.
