    Stiff Controls

I have a 2005 Mercury 50 HP outboard. The controls have gotten stiffer with time. It is to the point that its a hindrance to run the boat as I cannot go in and out of gear or accelerate with ease. Does anyone have a "how to" guide on how to fix this issue? I have no idea where to start without...

Mercury 50 HP Issue above 1/2 throttle

I have a 2007 Mercury 50 HP ELPTO outboard. My last three trips I have had an issue when I go over 1/2 throttle. The motor cranks and idles fine. No issues below 1/2 throttle. Anything above that, the motor bogs down after 10-15 seconds. It bogs down to the point where I come off plane. If I...

Mercury 50 HP ELPTO Throttle Control Box

The throttle on my 50 hp Mercury outboard is getting very stiff. The plastic is also starting to crack and the handle itself is very loose. The actual throttle lever moves 3 inches or so from one side to another (not up and down with the throttle, think side to side). I think its about time for...

    Trolling Motor Size Vs. Voltage

My rig is a 1648 SC with a 50 hp jet at the powerhead. I have a similar post on the jet boat forum about it and one user recommends using a Trollbridge24. The information is below in the link, but it looks like it would work perfect for my situation. It basically connects my existing cranking...

    Trolling motor on jet boats

This system looks really neat. This is exactly what I am looking for. Does anyone else have any reviews or testimonials? I obviously worry about running out of juice but you seem to have had success with it.

    Trolling motor on jet boats

I apologize for not being more clear. I have 2 batteries on my boat now. A trolling battery that runs just my 12v trolling motor and a cranking battery that powers my outboard, fish finder, lights, bilge, etc... I want to upgrade to a larger trolling motor (75 lb or 82 lb thrust) but they...

    Trolling motor on jet boats

I posted a question on the electrical forum about trolling motor voltage. I am currently running a 12 volt 55 lb thrust trolling motor on my 16 ft jet. To keep it simple, I am not getting enough power out of this motor to keep up with the river current in areas that I fish. I would like to...

    Trolling Motor Size Vs. Voltage

I currently run an older Motorguide 12 volt trolling motor with 54 lb of thrust. This motor is powered by a deep cycle trolling battery, used only for this trolling motor. I also have a cranking battery that powers my outboard, lights, bilge, etc... Due to the current of where I fish, I need...

    Got a new boat today!

Not trying to hijack the thread but can I see a picture of yalls rig? Especially you rider. I also have a 1648 grizzly side console but i have a 50/35. Mine runs great with 2 people and gear, but put 3 in it and she is a dog. Tough to plane out and wont run near as fast. Oh well, its just a...

    Grizzly

I like the way your rig looks. Does the jet run good? Reason I ask... You may want to add a splash plate back there to keep an undisrupted flow of water to the jet. My boat has one that comes off the back of the hull, and extends just before the point of contact with the intake. It may or may...

    Jiffy luber

Its really a pain in the rear to use! Mine needs extreme pressure to keep the grease flowing, and often times the tube of grease will get stripped (its some type of plastic). If you have some other way to do it, please let me know!

    Corroded Fuel Line

Great post. Reminded me to check my fuel pump for the same thing. I hope you can figure out the problem. These jets can be fickle at times...

    Grizzly

I have a Grizzly 1648 with a 50 hp jet. It runs pretty good. The back bench seat is full of foam, and it is a tedious process to take it out. I have a 6 gal tank and battery in the back, and then another battery up front. I also try to keep most of my gear and coolers up front. I do have a...

    Shallow water

Running shallow water will definitely pucker me up... The shallow sand and gravel bars don't normally scare me, but running a big shoal or rock infested area does. Last year, I was running a new shoal in water that I knew I shouldn't be in. I got up it fine. Fished around a bit, and then decided...

    acceleration issues

I was experiencing the same problems last year. It was in the fall, and the leaves on the water were everywhere. I thought that every time i accelerated, leaves were clogging up the intake. After countless attempts to fix the problem, and some help from the forum, I found out that my electronic...

A Testing Tach for Small Outboards

I have been needing a tach for my 2006 mercury 50 hp. Its a two stroke. I don't know anything about tachometers or motors, so I am not sure when my motor hits on each cylinder. Do you think this tach would work for me? I dont want to buy a nice tach that I must mount, I really just want to check...

    Need some quick advice- wiring

I finished my wiring project tonight. It took a lot of time and effort, but I am happy with the turnout. I will try to post pictures tomorrow.

    Bilge

Decided to just change out the old hose for the new one. Even if I did a conversion from the old size to the new size, it would have been messy. I found bilge pump hose, the type that is ribbed and can bend at any angle from West Marine for around 2.50 a foot. Not bad at all.

    Bilge

Ok, so I just spent the last 8 hours working on the boat, and let me tell you, it can sure be a pain in the rear. I rewired my rig from front to back, and installed a newer and nicer bilge. My old pump was 250 gph, my new one is a rule 1500. After wiring it up, I went to attach a hose but the...

What's the deal with these bearing buddies?

I found the same thing on my wheels. At first I noticed the splattered grease everywhere. I took off the small rubber cap and grease was everywhere. After disassembling each hub and regreasing, I noticed it was still coming out of the seams. Now I have put the rubber stopper back on, and bought...
