    Plywood for flooring

I really think it depends on a number of factors and your budget. The more water and humidity it's exposed to and the more frequent you are out will make a difference. Also, how it's stored - whether outdoors or indoors. And not to mention goals of how long you want it to last. Obviously...

    14' Lund rebuild and modification

It looks like a nice "new" old rig. Those lunds are nice and stable and ride nice even in rougher waters. good luck on your mod. looks like my old lund (that i sold), so you can check out what i did with mine.

At it again - 1977 Starcraft Supersport conversion

@ShipwreckStew: the hull is 16 ft (actually 16.5'). It's similar to your hull, just shorter. The supersport was more of a runabout with a walk-through dual console, but I'm sure the hull design is similar to yours as this hull seemed to be on a few models. It looks like you have an offshore...

    89 Smokercraft Challenger 16

Yeah, I believe the Smokercraft (and sylvan) came off the same boat line, though the starcraft ss was discontinued earlier. I do have a tilt and trim for my merc. I have to get everything running, but that is going to be later in the summer. BTW, I'll be making mine a single side console...

At it again - 1977 Starcraft Supersport conversion

Don't know if I can. I rent a garage at an apartment complex and don't have access to external faucets. Also, not sure if the owners of the building would appreciate me filling a boat with water. I guess I can take the boat to the boat launch at the lake that is nearby to see if water leaks...

At it again - 1977 Starcraft Supersport conversion

Got phase 2 done - took out the floor and the foam. I never understood what soaked foam was until I took this boat apart. The soaked foam must have added 150 lbs. Good news is that even though the floor was completely rotted, I was able to salvage the front three pieces for...

At it again - 1977 Starcraft Supersport conversion

Thanks. The hull is in great shape from what I see. Still will need to check for missing/loose rivets, but from initial inspections, I didn't see anything to be alarmed about.

My second tin boat 1981 starcraft 160

Yeah, I'm with you about spending money on a console. That's helpful to know. I was just wondering if you did use fiberglass or not. I would imagine it would be hard to get a smooth sheen like that with just simple plywood.

    89 Smokercraft Challenger 16

You know, that smokercraft looks a lot like my starcraft. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the build.

My second tin boat 1981 starcraft 160

That center console shell looks nice. How did you get it to look like that? Did you just prime and paint the wood or did you use fiberglass? I want to rebuild my side console on my starcraft and have been seeking ideas.

At it again - 1977 Starcraft Supersport conversion

I'm at it again. After finishing my lund conversion and after a family vacation, I realized I needed to get a boat that was bigger for the family. I decided to sell the lund to a buddy and I got myself a Starcraft Supersport. The Supersport has been sitting around for a while as I've been...

    1971 Starcraft Supersport

It looks like the previous owner modified it to be a single console fishing boat. The original was an open bow runabout with back to back seats. I'm actually starting a former supersport project, modifying it to be a single console fishing boat.

    1976 Lund S-14 Mod

My s-14 has a max of 35. Not sure what year yours is, but I've seen posts on other forums that show the s-14 to have a max of 35. They may have changed it over the years.

    1976 Lund S-14 Mod

It's a 2 cylinder. I don't know if I'm getting the full potential out of the motor. I am planning on checking the rpm when I get a chance. But with my rig, it's hitting about 24-25mph max. As mentioned, with my old layout, I maxed at 27mph.

    1976 Lund S-14 Mod

@tripwirenh I needed to correct something from my last post the more I thought about it. When it came to the lip for the hatch, I actually remembered that I actually used a single rectangular 3/4 inch plywood piece that was a couple of inches per side larger than the hatch opening. In the...

    @Gator The motor is a '67 Johnson 33hp. It's "bulletproof".

    1976 Lund S-14 Mod

tripwirenh, These old lunds are great and they handle really well in the water. I don't think you will be disappointed. To answer your questions: 1. I used 1 1/2 by 1/8 aluminum angle. I initially used the 6061 for the sole because it is better for structural support, but to butt the joints...

    1976 Lund S-14 Mod

Hey, all. Just thought I'd chime in since people have taken a look at my project. Unfortunately, I never had the time to get around to making those splash guards. But someone pm'd me asking me how I did the framing for the casting deck. Since I didn't have any pictures, I sent him a couple...

looks like things are coming along. i try not to think about how much i spent...it's easier to tell the wife that it was just a "couple of hundred or so." :D

    Installing drain plug

no, it's not that simple, but i don't think it's a difficult endeavor. If you choose to fabricate one, I'm sure you can drill a hole towards the bottom and weld a piece of aluminum tubing. Just be sure the tubing is the right diameter that will fit the drain plug. The other option is buying...
