That's s good idea too. I think I am gonna try something like that or cut out the bench just enough to make it a walk through.

14 ft flatbottom build on a tight budget! (NEW PICS)

While I haven't gotten a lot done to the boat I figured I would get some more pics up of what I had. Its been busy around here due to the birth of my third son on March 3. But I did get the trailer painted as you've seen and today got out and put the boat on the trailer to be able to mock up...

    trailer height

I've got 8 inch wheels on there already but the distance from the ground to the bottom of the boat is 22 inches which seems awful high. I am planning on moving the axle to the top of the leaf springs but that will only help a little.

    trailer height

What is the height from the ground to the bottom of your boat. Mine is obviously too high and I am trying to lower it since my usual fishing hole has a shallow launch. How far should I lower mine to be able to launch fairly easy. TIA.

14 ft flatbottom build on a tight budget! (NEW PICS)

Yeah so far my plans for the boat are to put a very small deck up front for storage not casting and plywood on the floor. I was also wanting to figure out a way to make some storage out of the bench seat but not sure how yet. Any one have ant ideas?

14 ft flatbottom build on a tight budget! (NEW PICS)

Here is the boat the as I bought it. I'll get more pics of it soon. Here is the trailer. As you can see its rough. When I got it one tire was off and all the bunks were rotten. Jack is froze and winch is broke. These pics are after I have started on some of the stripping process. But at...

14 ft flatbottom build on a tight budget! (NEW PICS)

Hey all! First post but long time lurker. I currently fish a really old V-bottom that was originally bought by my great grandfather back in the early fifties I think. It's still a great running boat but have decided to start on a new project. My goal is to have a good fishing boat for as little...
