    Inboard jet vrs. Outboard jet

Most likely your buddy with the G3 knows how to drive. Sounds silly, but I am not being flippant. So guys can trash a .190 bottom with UHMW running the same water other guys without UHMW can run. And some can have UHMW and never have any issues with wear or cuts. To your point, and well...

    Inboard jet vrs. Outboard jet

BuckeyeBen, I am heading east northeast tomorrow. If you do want to take a test drive in my UHMW'd SJ200 on Saturday morning just give me a shout. Not a problem either way- 610-360-5433 I have some articles that I've written, and while some of it is a bit dated and semi flawed, the overall...

    Inboard jet vrs. Outboard jet

Oddly, my craft is 400lbs less than my Snyder Outboard, and several hundred pounds less than a Rocket with the same power plant. The boat has been pushed off several gravel flats and it's quite easy with the UHMW. I was in a craft the other day that was 200 pounds less than mine (same model)...

    Inboard jet vrs. Outboard jet

I try and stay clear of many topics, but let me share a bit as it might help. I have been jetting for 22+ years and have owned 7 jet boats from all types Outboards and Inboards, side, center and stick-steer. 15-19.5' in length and 60/45's to 250/185's in the outboard world and 2 of the 7 boats...

    Punch for removing jet grates?

Take a new welding rod and know the white resin off it. Very strong and plenty long enough. I did locus repairs on OBJ's and this worked very well. I think I used a standard 6011 rod. Start with a 3-4" punch and when you are 1" or so started switch to the welding rod.

New guy With a new boat

10 years ago we did the exact same thing on my buddy John's Tracker/Griz. Added a Manual Transom Jack Plate from Bob's Machine Shop. Then we welded a 16-17" section of 1.5x1.5 angle to the transom and put a 4" UHMW cap over the intake. John picked up 4mph, lost the cavitation issues and went...

Needing advise on the Susquehanna river

Ben, I am VERY familiar with the Susky and other eastern rivers. If you give me a general area of where you want to run, I can give you some info running. Would also be important to understand what your comfortable running depth is. -Chris

    Plane faster?

Not to knock the power suggestions- but I thought you were asking tips and tricks. On a list of expense, I would imagine that the engine would be hardest on your wallet, the forward mounted console is another great idea but likely pricey as well. Lifting the bow creates a lot of drag, slows...

    Plane faster?

Move some of the weight forward. You don’t want a completely balanced boat, but weight too far forward or too far back is killer to take off. If this doesn’t fix the problem there are two things you may consider doing. Option 1. Weld 4” wide Trim Plates/Trim Tabs to the hull’s transom. I am...

    River rocket

Unlike outboard jet pumps, the SJ pump is pressurized and self loading. So the little hiccups in deep chop and jumping off waves or falls is going to happen. They dont shut down where you have to drop the throttle completely and reload. Hull Shape will reduce Cavitation to a degree. I’ll stay...

    River rocket

With your stated plan, the boat is going to last you a very long time. Pay attention to the engine alarms if they ever go off, use the Merc DFI Opti oil and respect the speed. the 200HP is going to far and away out perform your lighter OBJ. Just in response alone. If we would baseline HP for a...

    River rocket

That's cause he's got them doo-dads all ready to put on his new Rocket Ride too ;) To many .100 us heavy. Much depends on your river make up and many guys are making .080 hulls last a long time. For rockier rivers though, I preach .100 as a good starting point. LOL- I have owned .080, .100...

    River rocket

I tell people, if you're not excited about buying a new boat- you likely bought the wrong one! These guys expect the calls - you're not the first expecting boat daddy to do that LOL. A new brand new 200SJ powered boat with a .190 bottom, and a bunch of doo-dads is hard not to get excited...

    New boat

That sounds like a pretty good product at a decent trice too. I like the wider width but I would need wider sheets yet. Still a cool product for key places on the boat to limit slipping and improove traction. Thanks for sharing!

    New boat

That is the stuff I was reffering to for PWC. Considered putting it on the entrance of my bow for clients as they first step onto or last step before departing. Wanted solid traction on rainy days. The product comes in over 2 dozen colors, only limitation I found was that the sheets are only...

    New boat

Nice looking OBJ rig. I bet you can hardly weight. Been the expecting boat daddy a few times myself LOL. The diamond plate padding is interesting. Is it designed to be glued down or does it have an adhesive backing? (guessing glue) I have seen similar water-sports products designed for Jet Ski...

    River rocket

We have 3 or 4 of them on our river here in PA. The Talon anchor pins seem to be a popular feature. I have seen a few Rockets with a pair of them attached to the transom. It is a heavy durable boat, so most of the guys running them use 36V Trolling Motors. Short of sonars, radios and...

Anybody ever total a boat out?

Seth- It is easy to total-out an Aluminum Boat. Most insurance policies are written to return crafts to “as new” or “as pervious” condition and while many welders are capable of creating strong welds, they lack the ability or desire to return the craft to a “pretty” shape. Meaning the boat...
