1970 ish Mirrocraft 14 Deep Fisherman Project

Nice progress! It's always a bit interesting to see how these mirrocrafts come together.

    1974 14' Mirrocraft Deep V

I took her out today on Lake Erie to put her through some sea trials and I'm rather content. My top speed suffered pretty bad from the added weight with a 5-6 mph drop. However, the added weight seems to have added some stability to the boat. The pedestal seat and the larger trolling motor...

    Building a deck,too much weight?

If it's any help at all. My hull (which seems pretty similar to yours) sits about 2 inches lower in the water at the transom after the build. This is after I regrettably built the decking with 3/4 ply, added 3 agm batteries (approximately 130 total), and a newer trolling motor which weighs...

What do you do for a living? or Fun (boating not allowed)

I work for a small company building one design sailboats. Before I really got into boating and bassfishing I'd backpack, hunting for old hi-fi gear, fly fish, and the occasional video game. I'm kind of a visual person so I thought I would share some photos.

    1974 14' Mirrocraft Deep V

I recently tested out the new trolling motor and it's pretty sweet. 70lb thrust on a 14 foot boat is pretty funny. I was able to get it up 3.6 mph with three batteries, my friend and myself onboard. The boat felt pretty balanced and the seat was a much needed comfort item. I have yet to take...

Front deck is complete! Just need to finish the transom I've been neglecting to do.

I used 1 inch aluminum square tubing. Well, the new trolling motor pedal was a bit wider than my old one so I had to widen the box and slot...which I already put carpet on. After, that I managed to carpet the box and put in the grommet for the wires.

a little reassurance please!!! 20 hp?

Depending on your load and hull condition I would expect speeds around 27ish. I have a 14 footer with a 25 horse and loaded down with tons of stuff it barely hits 23.

Optima Blue Top not doing all that well

I used to get these through work for insane prices (read: 35-45 dollars) and so I've accumulated somewhere around seven of these things. I've had them for about four years and they handle fine for me. They seem to charge faster and the AGM batteries are supposed to handle vibration better...

    14ft V-hull Restoration

Awesome job. I really like how the red looks on that hull.

I forgot to post how I did my carpeting. Initially, I had trouble with getting too much bulk in the corners and the quality looked like crap. So, frustrated I tried to find any tips on my phone and found this website (https://www.techguys.ca/howto/carpeting.html.) This is the one that really...

Welcome! I look forward to see how this build will progress. Good luck!

    1974 14' Mirrocraft Deep V

I got most of the carpeting done. I ran out halfway through and went to Lowes to find they changed the color on the backing from white to black. The color difference is enough to be noticeable but I'm out of options and tried to make the two tone work for me. I also repainted the inside. I'm...

    1988 Grumman Cartopper

Awesome setup. I think mine is going to end up pretty similar looking. I like your webbing hatch pulls. Do you know where to find webbing locally? (any sort of chain store?)

I made an attempt to varnish transom. This marine varnish stuff is thick and likes to leave bubbles unless you work painstakingly slow. I'm thinking of adding a plate of stainless across where the motor mounts for added bling.

1980 14' mirro craft deep fisherman project

I ran into the same issue. I've PMed Dobsonfly a while back and he said he got his directly from mirrocraft, but he had to bend it himself. I followed his advice and attempted to find a local metal shop to see if they had any channel aluminum to no avail. I'm probably going to order the some...

1980 14' mirro craft deep fisherman project

I initially used 1/2 ply and didn't feel it was stout enough in some places. I ended up going with 3/4 which I sort of regret due to the weight. Although, it may end up lighter than the previous owner's decking and that had a top speed of 23ish mph and handled Lake Erie well. If I had to do it...
