6HP Mercury Optional alternator

I am purchasing a 6HP Mercury 2009 and I have read that as an option a 4-amp lighting/2-amp charging is available. I can not find any information on it, nor do I understand how it is installed. It would be nice to have some juice to run some lights. Any suggestions ?

I tried doing some search on it and found nothing. Maybe contact your nearest dealer and ask them? And If you do find out, let us know.

Welcome - it might not be a part that you can easily bolt on. Sometimes when they offer those options it means that it is factory installed and the set up is different

So you can do it but might have to purchase different brackets, covers and the like

It could be a stator type charging system that's under the flywheel,kind of like motorcycles of the 60's and 70's.

I looked at that 2009 motor - I believe it is an alternator with a fan belt. It is an option and I suggest you contact Mercury Marine to order it if you want that option (I would get it)

Since you are buying a new motor you can certainly get that option if you want. Tell your dealer!
